The CFA Institute plans to introduce more language options for certifications, as well as programmes tailored to the needs of individual financial institutions.
It recently launched a simplified Chinese version of its sustainable investment certificate to cater to demand from non-English speakers in China seeking qualifications in sustainability.
“Our strategy for the next five years focuses on promoting skill-based training to enhance candidates’ practical abilities,” Paul Moody, CFA Institute’s managing director of global partnerships and client solutions, says in an interview with Asia Asset Management.
“Our primary target is localisation. We [will] offer product certifications and other learning modules in local languages such as Arabic, Spanish and Japanese.”
The courses can also be customised for individual financial institutions.
“We could use the existing content [of our syllabus] to create tailored packages for them,” he says.
According to Moody, the CFA syllabus has evolved rapidly in recent years to stay aligned with emerging trends such as artificial intelligence and sustainability.
The institute has developed more practical skills modules in AI, covering data visualisation, financial modeling and the Python programming language.
It has also introduced expanded specialist pathways, allowing candidates sitting for the CFA examination to choose their preferred career track.
Moody says they can now choose traditional portfolio management, private markets, or private wealth management routes in the final stage of the examination.
