US asset manager Franklin Templeton leads has led a funding round for Blockhead, a Singapore-based digital asset media firm.
Blockhead announced the fundraising in a statement on February 21 without disclosing the amount raised.
According to the firm, the funding will allow its continued growth and innovation in blockchain technology and digital assets, and to evolve its business model to become a leading digital asset research platform in the region.
It describes the platform, called BRN, as a “comprehensive resource for institutional and high-net worth investors, offering insights, analytics, and market intelligence on the digital assets and cryptocurrency landscape”.
Franklin Templeton sees high growth potential for digital assets in Asia and Blockhead’s insights and future business plans are “at a very exciting juncture”, according to Kevin Farrelly, director of digital asset management at the US company.
“This investment is part of our efforts to foster a global ecosystem of digital asset operators that can capitalise on the multitude of benefits that blockchain technology offers,” he says in the statement.
Spokespersons for both companies did not immediately respond to questions from Asia Asset Management.
California-based Franklin Templeton had US$1.3 trillion of assets under management as of end-2023.
