Australia’s Future Fund has tapped Richard Brandweiner, the chair of non-profit organisation Impact Investing Australia, as chief investment officer of the A$335 billion (US$238.78 billion) sovereign wealth fund.
He succeeds Ben Samild, who left the Melbourne-based wealth fund last September to join the Abu Dhabi Investment Council.
Brandweiner, a former chief executive officer of Australian investment firm Pendal Group, was hired after a global search, Future Fund says in a statement on April 23.
Hugh Murray, the fund’s deputy CIO, will remain as interim investment chief until Brandweiner takes over officially on July 1.
Apart from being chair of Impact Investing Australia, Brandweiner also sits on the investment committees of several family offices.
