The Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation has hired Leona Cheffins from Public Trust as general manager for people and culture, responsible for overseeing human resources and organisational culture.
She succeeds Mika Austin, who left the manager of NZ Super, the NZ$85 billion (US$48 billion) sovereign wealth fund, five months ago.
The Guardians announced her appointment in a statement on November 17.
According to Jo Townsend, chief executive officer of the Guardians, Cheffins is “ideally suited to her new role” given her background in finance and experience as a management consultant and human resources leader.
Cheffins was general manager of people and culture at Public Trust and has also held senior human resources positions at Insurance Australia Group and One New Zealand.
