Singapore Exchange (SGX) has appointed Sung Cheng Chih to succeed Tan Cheng Han as chairman of its regulatory unit.
Sung officially took over chairmanship of Singapore Exchange Regulation (SGX RegCo) on January 1, a day after the bourse announced the appointment.
Tan stepped down after nine years as the first chairman of SGX RegCo.
Sung, a co-founder of local asset manager Avanda Investment Management, became a board member of the regulatory unit a year ago.
“To chair the board of SGX RegCo is a unique opportunity. This is a company whose policies and actions are closely intertwined with the reputation of, and confidence in, Singapore’s capital markets,” he says in the statement.
