The California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) has promoted Scott Chan to chief investment officer.
Chan, who joined the pension fund as deputy CIO in 2018, will succeed Christopher J. Ailman, who is stepping down and retiring on June 30.
CalSTRS announced Chan’s promotion in a statement on May 15.
He will officially take over on July 1, reporting to the investment committee of the pension fund’s board and to Chief Executive Officer Cassandra Lichnock.
