Over 150 people from across Asia’s asset management industry gathered recently in Hong Kong for the Asia Asset Management 2026 Best of the Best (BOTB) Awards, which attracted a record number of entries.

The dinner and awards ceremony was the first of three lined up for this year.

Held at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong on March 25, it brought together senior executives, portfolio managers and industry leaders for an evening of recognition and networking, and reflections over standout achievements and evolving trends shaping the Asian investment landscape.

Janet Li, chief executive officer of BEA Union Investment Management, was named CEO of the Year and Pensions Leader of the Year for Hong Kong. Desmond Tjiang, the firm’s chief investment officer, received the CIO of the Year award for Hong Kong.

BEA Union was also recognised in the mutual recognition of funds category, winning Best MRF Scheme Manager (One Year).

Several asset managers scored multiple wins in the Asia Asset Management’s Best of the Best Awards’ Performance Awards category. They include US asset managers AllianceBernstein Holding and Cohen & Steers Inc;  Europe’s DWS Group, M&G Investments and Robeco Institutional Asset Management; and Japan’s Amova Asset Management and Nomura Asset Management.

The Asia Asset Management’s Best of the Best Awards’ Region/Country Awards category also saw several winners earning multiple accolades, including AllianceBernstein, Calastone, State Street Corp, Northern Trust Asset Management and Partners Group from the US; Amova; Singapore’s DBS Bank Ltd; Cathay Securities from Taiwan; and France’s BNP Paribas Asset Management.

The second Asia Asset Management awards ceremony, the Best of the Best Awards ASEAN Awards Dinner, will be held in Singapore on April 7, and the third, the inaugural Asia Asset Management ETF Awards Dinner, will be held in Hong Kong on April 28.
