Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) has hired Daniel Sonder, who was the finance chief at Brazil bourse B3 S.A, as co-head of emerging business development.
His appointment will become effective in May and he will report to Glenda So and Wilfred Yiu, HKEX’s co-heads of markets.
Sonder and Julien Martin, the other co-head, will be responsible for leading and developing emerging business opportunities in data, environmental, social and governance, carbon and digital assets, the Hong Kong bourse says in a statement on March 9.
“They will also have responsibility for overseeing and elevating HKEX’s fixed-income, currency, derivatives and post-trade services offering,” it adds.
Sonder was B3’s chief financial officer and investor relations officer. Prior to that, he was managing director of the asset management division at Credit Suisse.
“I am very pleased to welcome Daniel to HKEX. He has over 20 years of experience in exchange operations, capital markets, and financial services and he will play a very important role in helping to deliver HKEX’s ambition to build the marketplace of the future,” Chief Executive Officer Nicolas Aguzin says in the statement.
