Malaysia’s Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has hired veteran human resources executive Iwan Azlan Mokhtar as chief human resources officer.
He will develop the strategic direction of the human resources division and also oversee management of the people matters department and the EPF learning campus, the pension fund says in a statement on September 28.
It’s not clear whether the position is an existing one or newly created. Spokespersons for EPF did not immediately respond to questions from Asia Asset Management.
Iwan Azlan joins the pension fund from shipping company MISC, where he was vice president of human resources. Prior to that, he was chief people officer at state-owned power producer Tenaga Nasional. He also spent 17 years working in various human resources roles at oil and gas giant Shell Group.
The EPF, Malaysia’s largest pension fund, 989.14 billion ringgit (US$236.45 billion) of investment assets as of end-June and more than 14 million members.
